Managing Director

David is a Chartered Engineer and has been involved in the industry since leaving school, being hands on for the first twenty five years of his career with the family construction company, working on site installing and managing adaptations and the installation of specialist equipment.  He then gradually became more involved with the surveying and design side of the business as well as the sourcing of specialist products.  He successfully negotiated with various UK and European manufacturers to obtain sole agency and distribution rights to supply and install a range of superior products to enhance our service level to clients and to assist the company in becoming possibly the largest and most successful of its type in England.

David sold the installation company in 2001 and then in 2004 started Adaptation Design Ltd as a specialist surveying and architectural design company, dealing exclusively with alterations and adaptations for elderly and disabled people.

The company has been expanding ever since and now employs a team of specialists in this field.

David Edward Goodheart
Director

David holds a Masters degree in Building Surveying, accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.  He is also a Chartered Construction Manager through membership of the Chartered Institute of Building and a Member of the RICS.

Since 2004, David has taken principle responsibility for the design, specification and contract administration of over 3,000 residential adaptations projects.  His role includes providing CPR Pt. 35 compliant accommodation expert reports for the Court for the purposes of quantum, finding suitable properties, providing feasibility reports on the suitability of new or existing properties and cost projections for proposed adaptation and extension programmes.  He has attended an RICS accredited expert witness training programme and has been awarded a BTEC Level 7 Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence.​

He regularly gives talks and presentations to solicitors, case managers and occupational therapists on the home adaptation process and the various associated considerations that should be made.  David is also consulted by industry manufacturers of specialist equipment to provide feedback and guidance on new product ideas and prototypes.

Nick

Nick Paget
Senior Surveyor

Based in the West of England, Nick joined the ADL team in 2019 bringing over 15 years of experience in general practice, estate surveying and disability adaptations.

A well organised project manager and contract administrator Nick regularly delivers successful projects to the satisfaction of clients, on time and on budget.  Nick has is very interested in the redesign and best use of existing spaces and has a particular specialism in the design and delivery of hydrotherapy pools.  Nick also has a passion for green technologies and is keen to involve them where projects allow.

Nick is a member of the RICS and regularly attends RICS CPD events to ensure his knowledge is current and relevant.

David Threadingham
Senior Surveyor

David joined the ADL team in December 2021 as a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 15 years’ experience working with clients in a wide range of sectors including public, private and commercial. 

David is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. and is vastly experienced in inclusive design, accessible homes and adaptation projects, both as a consultant and previously within the Court of Protection.  

David is also greatly experienced in defect analysis and building pathology, advising on options of recourse relating to defective works.

David is based in our West England office. 

Justin

Justin Phillips
Senior Surveyor

Justin is the lead contact for all of ADL’s local authority, housing association and public sector housing department clients and has overseen hundreds of property adaptations in London and the South East.

He is extremely professional and provides a prompt service dealing exclusively with adaptation works for elderly and disabled people. Justin works alongside in-house surveying and OT departments offering a service tailored to suit the needs and budgets of each organisation.

Justin helps to provide support services to existing in-house departments within the public sector at times of unexpected high demand. His services have proved vital to a number of Local Authority clients where his detailed design drawings and itemised specifications have assisted in driving down the costs of adaptations programmes significantly whilst ensuring works are completed to a high standard of workmanship, in a timely manner and with no cost variation.

Justin is based in our Hertfordshire office.

Charlie

Charlie Saul
Building Surveyor

Charlie is an experienced Contracts Manager, knowledgeable in repair and maintenance contracts. He joined the ADL team in November 2020 and is currently working towards his Chartered status.

With a degree in Building Surveying and qualifications in Project Management and AutoCAD, Charlie is responsible for delivering a range of projects at Adaptation Design Limited from the initial design phase through to sign off and handover.

Charlie is based in our Hertfordshire office and covers adaptations in London and the home counties.

Tess Whitehead
Head of Property Search and Housing Occupational Therapist

Tess qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2006 from the University of Brighton. She has a diverse clinical background in Statuary Services and the Independent Sector across all age groups with clients who present with a range of complex needs including neurological, spinal injuries and conditions caused by the brain, physical injury and trauma.

Her particular areas of expertise are in inclusive design of properties, specialist equipment and assistive and smart technology. Tess’ experience enables her to comprehensively identify areas of functional difficulty within the home environment and make client-specific recommendations that combine functionality, aesthetics and budget.  Tess heads up ADL’s property finding team.

Tess also works in an advisory capacity to Building Surveyors to influence decisions on design planning and providing clinical oversight of building projects to ensure the specification of work remains appropriate to meet the current and long-term functional accommodation needs of the individual.

Tess is a member of the Health & Care Professionals Council, a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and a member of College of Occupational Therapists’ specialist sections in Housing and Independent Practice.

Helen

Helen Budd
Property Search and Office Assistant

Helen is ADL’s administrator and assistant property finder, and works closely with our internal occupational therapist, surveyors and specific clients to locate the perfect property for their needs, as well as assisting the ADL team.

Helen has many years’ experience supporting senior consultants and physicians in the pharmaceutical industry as an Executive PA and Office Manager.

Helen joined the team in June 2022 and is based at our Hertfordshire office.

Katie Warren
Office Assistant

Following a successful career in sales and marketing at major corporations including Aviva, Nestle and Mattel, Katie took a personal break to focus on her family before joining ADL in 2014.

She is an extremely organised and focused individual ensuring the smooth day to day running of the Hertfordshire office and her expertise in customer relationships a makes her a key part of our property finding team. Katie keeps our client’s needs and requirements at the forefront of everything she does.​

With a background in new business development and property renovation, Katie is also overseeing ADL’s new Interior Design service and has assisted a number of clients in finding the perfect solutions for their properties.
